Dan Perichino Cancer Fund – Brand Design

Designing a brand to rally around

Brief

The goal of the project was to develop a brand that would promote positivity and optimism while dealing with a serious subject. We needed a logo, messaging, products, and a web experience that would communicate what Dan was going through, while also maintaining a positive tone.

After seeing the strong, cheerful outlook Dan utilized throughout his first battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, I knew we needed to communicate those qualities in every aspect of the nonprofit’s branding. Furthermore, the brand had to be instantly identifiable to those unfamiliar with the cause (leaning on the official purple color of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma awareness and the ribbon concept), while also evoking support from those familiar with the fund.

The outpouring of support from Dan’s friends and family was overwhelming while developing the branding, materials, and events relating to the fund. With their help, the identity and supporting brand materials became something that Dan and the community were able to rally around throughout his battle and successful recovery.
